Associate Quality Engineering Lead - 6 months contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an active, hands-on Associate QA Lead / QA Lead who combines sharp manual testing instincts with modern test automation engineering. In this role, you will focus on execution on the ground: driving exploratory and functional testing, building maintainable UI and API automation frameworks, validating complex reporting engines, and executing cross-squad System Integration Testing (SIT) to eliminate delivery silos.

Key Responsibilities

Manual & Exploratory Testing

• Design risk-based test scenarios, boundary matrices, and edge-case suites for complex product workflows.
• Execute hands-on functional, exploratory, and regression testing before features move to automation.
• Conduct defect root-cause analysis (RCA) and drive or actively contribute to defect triage sessions

Automation & CI/CD Engineering

• Build and maintain scalable UI (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium) and API automated test suites using C# / .NET, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Automate critical manual regression suites and integrate them as automated quality gates in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
• Run baseline performance and load tests using k6 or JMeter to catch throughput issues early.

AI Tooling & QA Productivity

• Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to speed up test design, script creation, and data generation.
• Identify opportunities to introduce intelligent testing practices that enhance overall team productivity and reduce repetitive QA overhead.

Reporting Engine & Data Validation

• Lead manual and automated verification of reporting modules, dashboards, and data pipelines.
• Write complex SQL queries (joins, aggregations) to validate backend data integrity against frontend reports and export formats (PDF, CSV, Excel).

Hands-On SIT & Cross-Team Integration

• Plan and execute hands-on cross-squad SIT to validate shared interfaces, APIs, and critical dependencies across services.
• Review test plans and automation PRs, championing clean code and shift-left quality practices.
• Track and communicate baseline quality metrics (Defect Escape Rate, Automation Pass Rate, SIT Cycle Time).

Qualifications & Experience

• 5–8+ years of total QA experience, demonstrating a strong balance between hands-on manual testing and test automation.
• Hands-on UI & API Automation: Practical coding proficiency in C# / .NET or Java (alongside TypeScript/JavaScript) using frameworks like Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress, plus REST/GraphQL API testing (REST Assured, Postman, or native HTTP client libraries).
• Strong SQL & Data Testing: Proven ability to query relational databases to validate complex calculation engines, data transformations, and reporting outputs.
• Modern Tooling & CI/CD: Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipeline integration (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins), and Jira-based test management (Xray, Zephyr, or TestRail).
• Cross-Squad SIT Execution: Hands-on experience executing end-to-end SIT cycles across squad boundaries, validating shared APIs/data flows, and driving defect triage directly with engineers.
