We are seeking experienced Mainframe Developers with strong COBOL expertise to support and enhance mission-critical applications within a high-availability enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience working across COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, and TSO, with exposure to web services and API integration in mainframe systems. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work in Agile delivery environments, and experience supporting large-scale production systems.

Candidates with Insurance domain experience will be highly preferred.

Required Experience

• 8+ years of solid application development experience in Mainframe environments.
• Experience developing and supporting high availability production systems.
• Prior experience working in client-facing roles.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong experience in Mainframe application development.
• Hands-on expertise with: COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, TSO.
• Experience developing Web Services and APIs using COBOL.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting mainframe applications.
• Strong knowledge of batch and online transaction processing.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Insurance domain applications.
• Knowledge of enterprise system integrations in mainframe environments.
• Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments.
• Preferred domains - Insurance systems and policy administration platforms, Claims processing systems, Insurance data processing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications within Mainframe environments using COBOL.
• Develop and support batch and online processing using JCL and CICS.
• Build and maintain DB2 database interactions, including SQL query optimization and data handling.
• Develop Web Services and APIs using COBOL to support enterprise integrations.
• Support and maintain high availability production systems ensuring system stability and performance.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS components.
• Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement long-term fixes.
• Enhance existing applications and implement new functionality based on business requirements.
• Support integration with other enterprise platforms through web services and API interfaces.
• Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and performance improvements.
• Work within Agile development teams following sprint-based delivery models.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.
