Utilities SAP S/4HANA ERP & Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, owning P&L and leading large-scale SAP S/4HANA and EAM transformations for asset-intensive utility clients with a strong focus on water utilities.
The role combines multi-client portfolio ownership and commercial leadership with deep solution and architecture authority across SAP Finance and Enterprise Asset Management. Operating as a trusted executive advisor, the Partner ensures that SAP programs enable long-term asset stewardship, regulatory compliance, capital efficiency and continuity of essential public services.
Required Experience
Utilities & Asset-Intensive Experience
- 18–25+ years of experience in utilities, SAP ERP, and asset-intensive transformations.
- Proven experience in water utilities or similarly regulated infrastructure environments.
- Deep understanding of: Linear and plant asset environments, Maintenance strategies (planned, corrective, condition-based), Major capital programs, shutdowns, and commissioning cycles, Regulatory, audit and public accountability obligations.
- SAP Domain Expertise - Deep expertise in: SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI, Asset Accounting, Management Accounting, Central Finance), SAP Enterprise Asset Management.
- Strong working knowledge of: SAP SCM / Procurement, SAP EPPM / Project Systems.
- Exposure to SAP cloud solutions (Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass) advantageous.
- Proven cross-module integration and design authority leadership.
Commercial & Leadership Capability
- Demonstrated success owning P&L and large, multi-year SAP portfolios.
- Strong track record of originating and delivering complex SAP/EAM programs.
- Ability to operate credibly at Board, executive, and delivery levels.
- Engineering degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Revenue, P&L and Portfolio Leadership
- Own P&L and revenue growth for the Utilities SAP S/4HANA & EAM portfolio across multiple strategic clients.
- Drive pipeline creation, deal shaping, qualification, and closure for large SAP transformations and managed services.
- Lead pursuits, renewals, expansions, and long-term run/maintain engagements.
- Identify cross-account synergies, reusable utilities accelerators, and scaling opportunities across the portfolio.
2. Executive Client & Account Leadership
- Act as Executive Sponsor for multiple strategic utility clients concurrently.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with CXOs, CFOs, CIOs, COOs, Heads of Assets, Capital Delivery and Operations.
- Navigate complex stakeholder landscapes including regulators, audit bodies, engineering leaders, delivery partners, and OEMs.
- Lead executive governance forums, steering committees, and Board-level discussions.
3. SAP S/4HANA & EAM Transformation Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership across end-to-end programs including: SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformations, SAP Enterprise Asset Management (linear and plant assets), Asset Investment Planning (AIP) and Asset Performance Management (APM), SAP Finance, Asset Accounting, and Management Accounting, Capital Projects (EPPM / Project Systems).
- Champion outcome-driven, risk-based EAM 2.0 approaches aligned to asset lifecycle management and regulatory obligations.
- Ensure robust integration across Finance, EAM, Supply Chain, Projects, GIS, OT, mobility, and data platforms.
4. Solution Architecture & Design Authority
- Own and assure end-to-end SAP S/4HANA solution architecture for water utilities and asset-intensive environments.
- Translate complex operational, regulatory, and assurance requirements into scalable, auditable SAP designs.
- Lead decisions on S/4HANA transition approaches (greenfield, brownfield, selective transformation) balancing risk, service continuity, and value.
- Establish architecture principles, design standards, and governance aligned to regulated public sector environments.
- Provide hands-on leadership to resolve critical functional, integration, or data challenges when required.
5. Regulatory, Financial & Asset Transparency Enablement
- Architect solutions that deliver clear financial and asset transparency across: Capex approval, delivery, capitalisation, and commissioning, Depreciation, revaluation, retirement, and lifecycle costing, Cost allocation and management accounting across asset classes and zones, Regulatory submissions, audits, and investment justifications.
- Ensure SAP supports public accountability, audit confidence, and regulator engagement.
6. Delivery Oversight & Assurance
- Provide portfolio-level governance across multiple concurrent SAP/EAM programs.
- Assure scope, quality, risk, commercial performance, and benefits realisation.
- Intervene in critical escalations and guide program and architecture leadership teams.
- Ensure SAP implementations do not compromise essential water service continuity.
7. Practice & Capability Development
- Build and scale the Utilities SAP S/4HANA & EAM practice, including frameworks, industry solutions, and accelerators.
- Develop senior consulting, architecture, and delivery leaders.
- Strengthen partnerships with SAP and the wider utilities ecosystem (engineering, infrastructure, and technology partners).
